I am so disappoint
no, not that Team A won or Team B lost or whatever. Im disappointed that:
1. This is partisan as hell. Im very saddened to learn that party rules the day, not justice, not country, not even a desire to find fact. Im more impressed with the 2 nay votes on the dems than I am with the 194 nays on the republicans or 231 yea on the dems. Holy hell you cowards, grow a pair and vote based on something other than the color of your tie.
2. NV (No Vote). Who the HELL do they think they are?! Maybe I am missing the reason there is no vote cast for these 4 but whats the point of electing officials to speak for us if they can’t even be bothered to cast their vote? If there is one thing 100% of our representatives should be weighing in on its this process and to be absentee is appalling. IF this is simply a case of unavoidable absence or some other procedural thing I withdraw my objection, but I have a feeling its representatives who refuse to do their job.
granted this isn’t the final line in the sand, but its sure not a great start.

Yeah, it’s sad. The 2 D nays are cowards, too, surely just voting because their seat is in strong Trump country...
I wonder if those no votes are absent (sick?).

I suppose some of the non- votes could have been for legitimate reasons, but my gut feeling is not voting was easier than voting against your party.

Presidential impeachments are political. The last one was, and this one would be too. Thing is, what’s the point of going through all this theatre and wasting our time and money?
Oh yeah, it’s to deflect our attention from the harder important stuff, and also to stick it to the other team. Hooray for democracy.

One of them is probably Elijah Cummings’ old seat. I could be wrong tho since I don’t know how they account for vacant seats

Hice absent for father’s funeral - would have voted against.
Rose absent for family emergency - would have voted against.
Timmons is deployed with Air National Guard.
McEachin recovering from surgery - would have voted for.
So perfect party line except for the the 2 red district Dems...

On July 4, 2019, Amash announced in a Washington Post op-ed that he was “declaring his independence” from partisan politics and leaving the Republican Party to become an independent. [131] Citing his extensive differences with both political parties, Amash wrote he felt partisan politics had become so overpowering that Congress no longer functioned as an independent legislative body: “We are fast approaching the point where Congress exists as little more than a formality to legitimize outcomes dictated by the president, the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader.” He did not say whether he would continue to caucus with the Republicans. [132] An aide said he would run for reelection in 2020 as an independent. [133] Amash has also been mentioned as a potential candidate for President of the United States in the 2020 election , either as an Independent or as a member of the Libertarian Party . [134] [135] [136]
Amash is the only independent in the House of Representatives. He is the first independent in the House since Bernie Sanders of Vermont , who left the House in 2007 after being elected to the Senate. Amash is one of three independents in the United States Congress, along with Sanders and Maine Senator Angus King . [137]

Im trying not to take a “business as usual” view on this, and chose to remain hopeful that there are some elected officials who are there to actually do the right thing. I just don’t understand why the action to proceed with an impeachment inquiry would even be a close vote? You don’t have to vote to impeach but if you have a shred of honesty you should at least understand that there is enough to warrant an investigation. If you aren’t worried about the substance, let it bear out.

You expected otherwise? I’m honestly surprised that there were 2 votes across party lines.
The No Votes come across as an act of defiance for the entire proceedings, and not wanting to pick either of the two options presented . Kinda like a regular jagoff voting for Giant Meteor or Deez Nutz in the general election.

The no votes were absences, not defiance.
Those 2 D votes were completely political (red districts).

Are you really surprised this was a party-line vote? The Rs were complaining about closed-door hearings with no vote , the Ds said “ok you want a vote, here’s a vote,” and then the Rs all said “ doing a vote now doesn’t count , you should’ve done it before, this doesn’t fix anything ” and voted no.
As for why more Rs aren’t “concerned about the truth,” there’s a very simple, cynical reason. Trumplestiltskin, for all his bluster, insanity and corruption, actually does put a lot of R talking points into action. The Rs like their talking points being put into action and so far they’ve decided it’s more important to them to have a president who makes their talking points happen than it is for that president to behave presidentially .
If anything, his insanity gives the Rs cover, because even though they agree with a lot of stuff he does, him being all crazy means they don’t have to go on record making public statements in support of supposedly-unpopular policies. Dingus takes the heat off the Rs in congress , they just show up and vote for stuff and keep their noses out of the press best they can, unless they need to.
So, as long as his actions are arguable in some way , the Rs will continue to try to prop him up so he can get more of their talking points accomplished.

Being a Representative/Senator is probably one of the easier and cushy jobs in the US so why risk that. If things make no sense just follow the dollars, these folks are just trying to ride the gravy train as long as possible.

Ehh. You need a damn good reason to impeach someone like a president. Impeaching over ukrane may be legally valid, but it’s no smoking gun. Its going to look partisan as hell any way you slice it.

High crimes and misdemeanors . If you are the president and you use the office to your own political gain AND its illegal? That’ s a plenty good reason.

Thats exactly why this vote worries me. The polls are showing mostly polarized opinions on impeachment based on party lines. It shouldn’t have to be like this.

It really worries me, too. It not only foreshadows a likely Senate vote in the future, but fuels the partisan fires. Not one Republican could go on record saying they at least want to see all the facts? That’s not a good sign.
I keep thinking there will be a crack in the dam, but then I see this and it’s like a structural integrity report of that dam saying it’s good for another 100 year flood.

Did you steal a cookie from the jar?
No
Here is a video of you taking a cookie from the jar
That’s not me
Here is some audio of you introducing yourself to another person in the room and a screenshot of a nametag you were wearing at the time
You can’t trust anything you see on the internet these days - see, this website says it wasn’t me so it must not have been me
Here is that person you were talking to, saying they were there, and saw you take the cookie
They’re motivated by hate, biased, can’t trust them
Here is their friend relating the story, corroborating everything
They weren’t in the room, can’t know what happened
Here are three other people who were in the room at the time, saying you took the cookie
But I never ate the cookie
Everyone in the room saw you eat it, too, and you just admitted to taking it
They’re all biased against me, can’t trust anything they say, I don’t even really know them, that woman probably took the cookie
That woman is your own mother and she says you love cookies
This is a takedown. Fake news. You ate the cookie and everyone knows that.

Perjury over a trivial personal issue vs. multiple flagrant
violations of campaign finance laws, on top of obstruction of justice
? Obstruction of justice essentially
includes perjury,
or something very close to it.

Seriously. Stop believing the democrats care about you. I assure you they do not. You are a wallet to be opened. Politicians are only concerned with gathering and maintaining power.
Fuck em all. Bill clinton especially.
